BENOCS offers two different types of hosting to make Analytics operational. The two options are BENOCS infrastructure hosting and customer hosting. The customer is expected to choose an option before the start of installation. It is important to note that migration from one option to another at a later stage is considered as a re-installation of the entire software stack.
BENOCS infrastructure hosting
The BENOCS infrastructure hosting option is a no-touch service operation for hosting Analytics. BENOCS hosts Analytics at its data center in Digital Realty in Frankfurt. Once the customer connects the respective network to the Analytics infrastructure, BENOCS will provision, configure and run the whole service. This option increases the speed of deployment and provides easier network connectivity. This hosting option is offered at an additional cost, which is based on a customer’s network size. Customers who experience delays and challenges in tapping their internal resources will benefit from using this option.
Different connectivity options for BENOCS hosting
The following connectivity options are available for customers who choose to use BENOCS infrastructure to host Analytics:
IPsec configuration via VPN
The fastest and easiest connection between the customer’s network and BENOCS’ cloud hosting platform runs over public IP. BENOCS is connected via DT’s core backbone network ASN, which guarantees high standards in availability and security.
The connection runs as GRE-tunnel (layer 2) in an IP-sec VPN over public IP. The customer allocates a /29 IPv4 of their core network ASN, which individual addresses serve as end points for the protocol export (BGP, IGP, SNMP, NetFlow). The following graph sketches the configuration:
Upon receipt of the /29 IPv4 addresses, BENOCS will issue the IPsec-Gateway address.
Inhouse Cabling/Cross Connect
If your network has a presence at Digital Realty Campus Frankfurt (FRA1-13, Hanauer Landstrasse / Weismuellerstrasse), the connection to BENOCS cloud infrastructure can be established via inhouse cabling. We will issue LOAs to facilitate the cross-connect.
i. L2-EoMPLS
BENOCS cloud infrastructure is connected to Deutsche Telekom’s Carrier-Ethernet service. Connections can be established via DT’s network or any of DT’s NNI-partners as EoMPLS/VPLS connection.
ii. via L2 VLAN
If you are a member of one of our IXP partners, you can access BENOCS cloud infrastructure easily by a VLAN-configuration from any of their 100+ locations all over the world. Currently, we are partnered with NL-iX and DE-CIX.
Customer hosting
The customer provides the necessary resources based on the hardware scoping for BENOCS to install the software on their own premises. Once installed, BENOCS manages the entire software stack on the Virtual Machines (VMs)/Hardware. There are two ways a customer can host BENOCS Analytics.
Virtual environment installation
BENOCS installs the software stack on virtual machines and provides the ISO images and the resource specification required to provision the virtual machines. The operating system is then installed using ISO images provided by BENOCS. This option is best suited for fast-growing customers who are continuously upgrading their network and the resources allocated for BENOCS Analytics to keep up with their growing demands.
Bare metal installation
Customers can also provide a bare-metal machine that runs BENOCS Analytics in an elastic installation. BENOCS will setup the needed VMs and will provision the resources automatically as required. Access to a console (IMPI/iDRAC) is needed for managing the host’s operating system. This option is often applied when on-premise hosting is required and a virtual environment or machines cannot be easily provisioned to BENOCS.
